Waste Works 1 - Public Bin Housings

Artist: Stefan Shankland with Andrew Sabin
Permanent Work

This permanent work will be created from the outcomes of the bin housing experiment, creating unique and distinctive housings for the public litter bins around Horsebridge. One possibility is to reuse some of the materials from the original site, saved from demolition.

Sites, sizes and functional requirements will be agreed with Canterbury City Council to allow the normal waste collection practices to carry on without disruption.

The bin housings will create a link between the past and present on the site, with information, where appropriate, to explain their origins. The bin housings will also act as an indicator of the way in which materials and waste are used and disposed of.
