This project will create a back projection facility for the east facing (on Horsebridge road) windows of the Community Arts Centre. This important façade of the building fronts on to one of the main streets in Whitstable, and this work will signal the activity of the Community Arts building before the square and main building entrance is reached. It will also provide an active street-frontage for the building, making use of a blank space which was created to ensure the gallery behind this frontage received the correct amount of light.

Equipment to create this back-projection facility will be purchased from the commissions budget, and one or more video works will be commissioned to mark the opening of the Centre. The equipment will become the property of the Community Arts Centre, who will be able to use the projector and screen in a variety of ways - commissioning new video work specifically for this space, or perhaps showing a taster of what is going on inside the building.
