NEW CO-ORDINATOR FOR HORSEBRIDGE ART CENTRE
Planning work on possible uses for the new arts and community building
at the Horsebridge in Whitstable has begun in earnest with the appointment
of a Facilities Co-ordinator by Canterbury City Council.
William Forrest, who lives in Whitstable and has a background in
arts management, will be working with local individuals and groups
and the new Board of Trustees in the coming months to produce a
programme of events and activities for the whole town. The new building
will be opening in late 2003.
There is space for visual art displays, workshops and community
classes, a gallery, a café, education and technology rooms and performance
space. …
William said: "We're keen to make sure the new arts and community
centre is accessible to as many local people as possible. It has
the potential to be the cornerstone of the community, but only if
the activities and events on offer are what residents want."
